What is NTRO?
NTRO means ” National Technical Research Organisation ” which comes under Prime Minister’s Office and is controlled by National Security Advisor of India. It is a technical intelligence agency of India which is one of the branches of RAW. Initially, the Research and Analysis Wing and Intelligence Bureau used to deal with every technical and non-technical affair.
|Point to be Noted;|
It deals with technical issues like Cyber reports of countries against India.
With the passage of time, when the Indian govt. came to know about the need and importance of a particular technical intelligence agency after facing technical difficulties in Kargil war, then it was decided to form a new intelligence agency which would work under RAW, and that was NTRO. It was formed in 2004. An Agency named as “ Cryptology Research and Development ” comes under NTRO. It is headquartered at New Delhi.

Let noble thoughts come to me from all directions.
A Brief History of NTRO’s Formation;
The backbone of the history of the formation of NTRO is based on the technical issues that arose during the Indo-Pakistan war in Kargil in 1999. It was predicted that the Indian Army could not fetch Pakistan’s soldiers locations and borders at that point of time.
So after analysing all these technical issues, a committee was organised named as ” The Group of Ministers ” headed by Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishan Advani. The NTRO would require Rs 700 Crore for the perfect settlement. After its fully fledge formation, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was appointed as the head.
Another committee was organised named as ” Subrahmanyam committee ” which pointed out the weaknesses of Intelligence Agencies of India at that point of time.
Role of NTRO during Balakot, URI Surgical Strike;
National Technical Research Organisation played a great role in the surgical strikes done by Indian Security Forces because these strikes are being performed with the help of RAW, IB, NTRO and Indian Armed Forces with full planning. Firstly, the targets were set by the Intelligence NTRO with its Cyber hacking techniques.

Why Modi Govt. has appointed A.K Dhasmana as the Head of NTRO;
Anil Kumar Dhasmana is well experienced IPS Officer because he also served in RAW as a chief and also led several kinds of Operations like Surgical Strike after URI attack and many more tasks. He is an IPS Officer of 1981 batch belong to Madhya Pradesh cadre.
His main expertise is considered to be Balochistan counter-terrorism and Islamic affairs. He also has a vast experience of Pakistan and Afghanistan. He also served outside India in Dubai and London for 5 an half years. Before his appointment as the boss of NTRO and RAW, he was posted as a Special Secretary at Cabinet Secretariat New Delhi.
As per our Analysis, we conclude that this appointment of Anil Kumar Dhasmana as the head of NTRO is very appreciable because Intelligence Agencies need these kinds of experts for the modifications and better working.
