United States of America has decided to provide weapons to the China’s controversial area named as “ Taiwan “. US’s President Donald Trump has sanctioned $180 million worth of torpedoes to Taiwan. On this deal, China expressed its dissatisfaction and opposition against United states of America.
What are Torpedoes
These are a bombs, shaped like a narrow tube, that are fired from a submarine and explodes when it hits another ship. A modern torpedo is an underground ranged weapon launched above or below the water surface, self-propelled towards a target, and with an explosive warhead to detonate either on contact with or in proximity to the target. These are the most Lethal ( deadly ) underwater weapons for naval platforms such as submarines, surface vessels, aircraft and helicopters.
In this video you can see how torpedoes actually work
The World’s Advanced Lethal or Deadliest Torpedoes
- Black Shark Torpedo;
This is actually “ The Black shark Advanced ” torpedo, a new generational multi-role heavyweight torpedo fired from submarines or surface ships. It is designed to counter threats from all surface and underwater platforms. This torpedo is currently being produced by whitehead Alenia Sistemi Subacquei ( WASS ) for several major naval forces and has been integrated into Scorpene, U209, U214, U212 submarines.
The wire guided, self -homing torpedo has 21-inch diameter and integrates an Advanced Sonar Transmitting and Receiving Architecture and high explosive warhead. It is having maximum speed of 50kt and range of 50km.
- Spearfish Heavyweight Torpedo;
This Spearfish Heavyweight Torpedo from BAE system is an advanced torpedo against submarine and surface threats in oceanic and coastal water. It is considered to be faster underwater than a cheetah on land.
It is totally aluminised with having some titanium content. It is weighing under 2 tonnes. Its speed is 70mph in a given time interval. Its length is 5 meters. It is upgraded from 2020, the new Mod-1 version will include a single fuel system, insensitive munition warhead and improved data links with the submarines.
- F21 Heavyweight Torpedo;
The F21 heavyweight torpedo from is a dual-purpose torpedo that is effective against submarines and surface vessels. This F21 can be operated in depth ranging from 10m to 500m and is driven by electric propulsion based on the silver oxide-aluminium primary battery providing a speed of 25kt to 50kt, range of over 50km and endurance of one hour.
- Torpedo 62 or Torpedo 2000;
The Torpedo 2000 is an advanced dual-purpose heavyweight torpedo. It can be effectively launched against all types of submarines and surface ships. It is having a weight of 1,450 kg and can carry high explosive warhead. This torpedo activates at greater depths of 500 m. It is fulfilled with an advanced pump jet engine and can engage targets within the range of over 40 km, with a speed of 40 kt.
- SeaHake Mod 4 / DM2A4;
The SeaHake Mod 4 is the main under water torpedo of the Germany’s Navy. The heavyweight torpedo, weighing 1.37 tonnes, can be launched from both surface ships and submarines. This torpedo is fulfilled with a high frequency permanent magnet motor and silver zinc battery modules and having a speed of 50 kt with the range of 60 km.
Comparison of Powers of United States of America and China in terms of Weapons
Area Wise Rank
From the above table, it has been cleared that the United States of America and China are the big powers of the world. And there is not too much comparison between these two powerful countries in terms of weapons and armed forces.
Relation between China and Taiwan
Taiwan, officially known as the Republic of China ( ROC ). It is an island off the southern coast of China. It has been governed independently from mainland China since 1949. The people’s Republic of China ( PRC ) views the island as a province.
History of Taiwan
Ethnic Han Chinese settlers, primarily merchants, began to arrive in Taiwan in the 17th century. The island, now inhabited by a Han Chinese majority, many of whom identify as distinctly Taiwanese. The indigenous people account for only around 2% of the population.
Taiwan was annexed by the Qing dynasty in the late 1600s. It was later ceded to japan in 1895 by imperial china in accordance with a treaty of Sino-Japanese war. Japan governed it as colony until 1945, after it lost to Republic of china ( ROC ) military forces. After that, China’s nationalist government ( KMT ) was defeated in a civil war by the communists in 1949. The KMT government ( ROC ) had been exiled to Taiwan.
KMT, insisted his government continued to represent all Chinese people on both the island and the mainland. Washington and most Western powers affirmed the ROC’s stance. The Communist government has been ruling over there in the Taiwan since 1945.
Taiwan Representation in UN
- Washington’ position began to shift under the Nixon administration.
- The Republic of China ( ROC ) lost its seat representing China at the United Nations in 1971 to Beijing ( capital of China ).
- Since 1971, the People’s Republic of China ( PRC ) replaced the Republic of China ( ROC ).
- Washington formally recognised People Republic of China ( PRC ) in 1979.
One China Principle
- Beijing and Taipei sharply disagree on the island’s status.
- The People Republic of china asserts that there is only “one China” and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of it.
- The capital of People’s Republic of China ( PRC ) says Taiwan is bound by an understanding reached in 1992.
- An agreement was reached between Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang in 1992 known as ” Consensus “.
- It states that there is only ” one china ” but allows for differing interpretations.
- The tacit agreement underlying the 1992 Consensus is that Taiwan will not seek independence.
From the above graph, it has been cleared that the trade between China and Taiwan was initially upto the level, but later on this trade relation after 2015 decreases due to some political and social issues of citizenships. Some, Taiwani say they are Taiwani, some say that they are Chinese and some few say that they are both Taiwani as well as chinese.
However, the Taiwan’s current president, Tsai Ing-wen, leader of democratic progressive Party ( DPP ) has rejected this consensus. In January 2019 speech,” she declared the ” one country , two system ” framework advanced by Beijing unacceptable. Due to this rejection of Tsai Ing-Wen, the controversy of self independence may increases.
As we explained above that United States of America is providing Torpedo weapons to Taiwan in order to target china by maintaining diplomatic relations with Taiwan. This is actually US’s policy to target china with the help of those countries which are totally against China. But China also has warned United States of America to stop supplying weapons to Taiwan. We are wishing that they may not initiate the war. Infact if United States of America wants to target China, then make sure do target economically, that means damage China economically. Refuse chinese companies, markets, online chinese business in all over the world with the help of another countries.
